Document Properties
A document's properties specify how to create the document. Some
of the most common properties include the source of the content,
the destination for the converted document, and image conversion
options.
Property Categories
The document properties include the following categories of information:
- Source: A document is
created from content contained in one or more source files and
the files to which they link.
- Destination: The
converted document may be automatically queued for the next HotSync®
or ActiveSync® connection or it may be written as a file on your
hard drive for later use such as for posting to a web site.
- Links: Hyperlinked
documents require you to specify how you want hyperlinks handled, for
example, to what depth to follow hyperlinks.
- Images: Images are often
integral to a document's presentation, but they can also occupy a large
amount of space, and so you may want to place limits on the size of
images.
- Tables: Tables, originally
designed for presenting tabular data, are often used to layout
the content of a page. If the layout was designed for a screen
size other than the one you use, you may want to exclude
some levels of table formatting to improve the presentation.
- Color: Combinations of background
and foreground colors may sometimes make content hard to read on
certain screens, so you may want to ignore either or both types
of color.
- Margins: Sometimes authors
of content add margins to pages to give them a printed look,
but on a small screen, the margins may create too much white
space, leaving little space for content, so you may want
to ignore left and right margins.
- Security: Depending on
the document, you may want to impose restrictions on the document such
as not allowing copying or beaming of the document.
- Text: When the source
consists of one or more text files, you can control how the text is
processed.
- Document: Miscellaneous
options for the document.
- Access:
For web sites requiring authentication, you can provide a user name
and password.
- Bookmarks:
You can specify settings for adding predefined bookmarks to a document.
- Messages:
You can specify textual messages for aspects of the document that
are not part of the document content itself.
- Cookies:
You can selectively enable sending and receiving of cookies.
- Scheduling:
You can assign schedules for conversion.
- Targets:
To enable a document to be the target of a link from another
document, also known as external document linking, you need
to set one or more options for conversion of the target document.
iSiloX allows you to specify these properties individually for each
document as well as to specify a set of default properties to give to new
documents you add to your document list.
