Default Document Properties
When you add a new document to the document list, the document
inherits the default properties. The type of information
in the default properties is exactly the same as that of a
document's properties.
Using Default Properties
By setting options in the default
properties, you can easily set up common and often used
options that new documents automatically inherit. Here are
some examples of how you might set up the default properties:
- If you always want converted documents queued for installation
to a given set of HotSync® users, you can add those users
to the HotSync® user destination list of the default
properties. This scenario is probably the most common.
- If you always want a copy of the converted document saved
for backup in a given folder, you can specify it in the list
of file destinations of the default properties.
- If you want all of your converted documents to have a
given file's contents, such as a copyright notice, to appear
as the first page of your documents, you can add the file as
a source in the default properties.
Modifying the Default Properties
To modify the default properties, you access the
Default Properties sheet dialog, which is a dialog with
the same set of tabbed sheets, one for each property category,
as the Document Properties dialog. To access the Default
Properties dialog, click Default Properties... on the
Document menu.
Note
If you modify the default properties, existing
documents in the document list do not receive the changes.
The default properties apply only to new documents
you subsequently add to the document list.
